Speed-drawing
I made this video to show you how I draw my portraits. I cheated a tiny bit here and pre-sketched the portait so that it wouldn't be too tedious, so there is about 1.5 hour's work missing, but it's more or less the same thing as drawing the outline, only less clean. So, what you can see here is a 2.5 hour work, with a few cuts. I chose something not too difficult to do so that the vid wouldn't last too long. Young women are easier and quicker to draw. Men and older people are much more interesting but can take up to 10 hours to draw. Kids are quick to draw but it's very easy to make them look older. I use a mechanical pencil (with HB leads), 180g Canson paper, a "mechanical-eraser", a kneadable eraser and stomps to smooth some bits (though I also use my fingers). Once I've sketched the whole thing I erase it so that I can only see traces of what I just did, and then I draw the outline. The next step is shading. I usually start with the hair because that's the easiest part. I don't always respect the model...
